How do you usually start your day?
It changes but at the moment I'll read the news first thing (not always a good thing!), then maybe a bath or a bit of yoga/meditation, then I'll light my incense and have a decaf coffee before I start work.
When and how did you discover your passion for art and drawing?
I would say my first influence was my mum; she was always creating and I would watch her draw or make beautiful stencils on the walls at home. I also loved art at school which led me on to study a fashion BA degree.
How do you usually choose your art motifs?
I often have a few ideas which I note down and will come back to when I have time for a new project, or if I'm working with a brand, we'll talk through ideas together so it's more of a collaboration. And I can be inspired by anything from architecture to colour combinations, but I'll particularly look for inspiration on my travels and in nature.
We adore the drawings you did for BASIUM. How did you choose the ingredients that you drew?
I looked at each plant/flower that was being used and picked my favourite visually for each oil or fragrance based on what I thought would translate well into a sketch/painting.
Which one of your BASIUM pieces do you like the most and why?
My favourite is Bergamot, and it was also the first one I made. I love the shapes involved and how it looks quite undone with loose lines. I often come back to it for inspiration.
It seems that nature plays an important role in your work – lots of beautiful organic forms and earthy colors - is nature an inspiration to you?
It's a huge inspiration for me. I think it's the best place to look for interesting lines and shape combinations I wouldn't have otherwise come up with because they are, naturally, random. Nature is where I want to spend my spare time and where I feel most connected to myself and my creativity.
What’s your favorite scent and why?
I think I would have to choose Lavender as it's my go to if I want help relaxing or sleeping, I'll also pop lavender oil straight onto my wrists or neck if I know I have a big day ahead of me, it's a smell that feels like home when you need a bit of an anchor. But I love so many scents, I always say smell is my strongest sense as I can get quite attached or feel nostalgic about certain scents.
Is drawing meditative to you?
I would say no, only because I have a seperate meditation practice and I don't think it's the same. However, I would say it takes me to a place where I'm very present and engaged.

Do you have a personal mantra?
To try and be mindful in everything I do; being present in even the smallest activities can feel really good.
Do you have any daily rituals that you practice which calm you down and promote inner peace?
Yoga and meditation are my go-to's when I need to alleviate stress or anxiety and I use my essential oils, candles and incense everyday. I'll also try and get out most days with my dog, as nothing beats feeling the sun on your face.
What’s your next project?
I'm currently working on a new project with Denude magazine - something online and physical - which hopefully you'll be able to see by the end of the year.
